It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Karl Walter Staehle, who was born on October 18, 1940, in Brooklyn, New York, and passed away on June 30, 2026, at Seasons Encore.

Karl was born to Karl and Frieda Staehle and was the brother of Linda Layden. In December 1947, his family traveled by rail to Olds, Alberta, where Karl would go on to build a life grounded in hard work, family, community, and a good sense of humour that stayed with him throughout his life.

On June 19, 1964, Karl married the love of his life, Marilyn Craig. Together they built a wonderful life and raised two daughters, Karen and Brenda, who were a constant source of pride and joy.

Throughout his life, Karl worked as a grain and cattle farmer and also spent time working in the oilfield. He was known for his strong work ethic, dependability, willingness to lend a helping hand, and his quick wit that could brighten any room.

Karl was an active member of the Elks and generously volunteered in his community, including working bingos. He enjoyed spending time quading and treasured his daily coffee visits at A&W, where he shared stories, laughter, and more than a few well-timed jokes with many good friends.

Above all, Karl cherished his family. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 62 years, Marilyn Staehle; his daughters, Karen (Greg) Ingram and Brenda (Robert) Rivard; his six grandchildren, Stephanie (Brad), Jared, Evan (Hana), Austin (Cornelia), Jordan, and Janey (Braydn); and his five great-grandchildren, Bennett, Sawyer, Max, Carlson, and Ellis, all of whom brought him immense pride and happiness.

Karl will be remembered for his kindness, dedication, sense of community, warm smile, and wonderful sense of humour, along with the lasting impact he had on everyone who knew him. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched.

A funeral service will be held at East Olds Baptist Church on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. Family and friends are warmly invited to attend as they gather to celebrate Karl’s life and share in remembering him.
