It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Delores Vammen on September 17^th, 2026, peacefully at the age of 94.

Delores was born March 1932 in the Togo area of Eastern Saskatchewan, middle sister to 4 brothers (Harold, Arnold, Edward, and Richard). They grew up during the hard times of the 1930’s but had many family members in the area to care for each other. At age 18, Delores went to nursing school at Dauphin General hospital, graduating in 1954. She loved her work as a nurse travelling across much of Canada beginning in Grandview Manitoba, moving through Saskatoon, Port Arthur (Thunder Bay), Toronto, and finally landing in Calgary. In the late 60’s she became a full-time mother and farm wife, near Conrich, then moving to a farm outside Olds in 1973. In the mid 1980’s, after moving into the town of Olds, she started back into nursing at the Didsbury extended care facility, retiring in the late 1990’s. Her time in retirement was filled with her love for her friends, family and community. She was an active volunteer, at Nu-2-U, the hospital, being a crosswalk attendant for the elementary school, helping at the legion, and working with various activities at her church. Delores loved to garden and spend time with her grandchildren, she was an avid fan of curling and will be remembered for her infectious laugh and sense of humor.

 Delores was an active member of St Paul’s Lutheran Church through her lifetime in Olds, and was strong in her faith right to the end. May she now rest in peace with the lord.

 She is survived by her sons Chris (Jacqueline) and Shawn (Sheena), as well as grandchildren Ryan (Caylen), Rebecca (Brant), Reed (Anna), Evan, and great grandchild Rhys.

 A funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 24^th, 11am at St Paul’s Lutheran church, followed by a reception in the congregation hall. Interment will follow at the Olds Cemetery.
